They were bred to hunt rabbits and hares. They were originally called "Boson" which means rabbit hunter.

History Of The Boston Terrier
In 1790, a man named John Russell imported two male puppies from Germany. One puppy had a white spot on his chest while the other did not.
John Russell decided to crossbreed the two pups together. After several generations, the result was a new breed of dog.
In 1885, the Boston Terrier Club was formed by William Ewart Gladstone. The club was created to protect the rights of the breed.
By 1900, the number of registered Boston Terriers reached over 100,000. By 1930, this number grew to 1 million.

Temperament:
The Boston Terrier exhibits high energy levels and is extremely affectionate. He is eager to please and enjoys being part of the family.
He is friendly towards strangers but wary of unfamiliar situations. He likes to play with children and other pets.
